Ontario Provincial Police press release PETERBOROUGH COUNTY– Officers from Peterborough County Detachment and members of the Smith-Ennismore Fire Department are reminding everyone yet again that no ice can be considered 100% safe for travel by any motorized recreational vehicle, automobile or truck at this time of year. Due to unseasonably inconsistent weather, the ice conditions on the majority of the County’s lakes and rivers should not be considered safe. Ontario Provincial Police press release BANCROFT – On Friday the 03rd of February 2012, the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received the report of a snowmobile collision on a snowmobile trail in the Municipality of Hastings Highlands. Investigation revealed that a Yamaha snowmobile entered a ditch and rolled onto the driver. William Huber, 50, of Alymer, Ontario was transported by vehicle to St. Francais Memorial Hospital in Barry’s Bay. Mr. Huber sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
