BANCROFT – A second Tim Hortons restaurant opened Oct. 20, 2011 in Bancroft. The new outlet is along Highway 28 South, near the Bancroft hospital and the Ontario Provincial Police station. It includes a Cold Stone Creamery, serving ice cream and frozen treats. Bancroft’s other Tim Hortons, on Hastings Street North, has the same owner and regularly helps local charities like Highlands Animal Rescue Team – HART.

COE HILL – The Bickles have cooked up $6,504 in cash for the Coe Hill legion – with more meals to come So far this year, Sheila, along with Jack and Nicole Bickle have served up the food in the legion hall. “Shiela is the main organizer and driving force behind the dinner events that are put on by the legion each month,” said Robert Woodley, who helps out at the dinners. COE HILL – The first hunt of the new elk population is underway across the Bancroft district. There are 70 hunters with licences to take one of the elk that were re-introduced to the area a decade ago.  The hunt runs Sept. 19 through Sept 25, 2011.
